I was recently invited to speak about my “create heal thrive” story to an Art and Soul Workshop here in Ohio. I wanted to give the participants something besides a business card or print to remember me by.
So I decided to give them handmade “create heal thrive” art journals.
I call these Kateri journals (St. Kateri is the patron Saint of nature and the environment) because they are made of materials that I found at Scrap4art, my local creative reuse store. Simple materials that were headed to the dumpster…graph paper, lined paper, map pages, music sheets, copy paper, colored scrap paper, and envelopes. My point in making them out of waste materials is that creativity doesn’t have to be expensive. You can use simple materials to create something meaningful for yourself.
I specifically wanted to give art journals because journaling helped me get my thoughts down during difficult times…then I could put it away and forget about it.
The covers have “create heal thrive” stamped on the front of them. The back explains the meaning and intended use of these journals. The inside cover has the “Creative Wellness Creed” that I’ve written to remind the user that creativity is another tool to use in your wellness journey.
