I created these stencils using clear silicone caulk purchased from a home improvement store. It came in a toothpaste tube sized tube for $4.
It was probably enough caulk for 20 stencils but I wasted some while I was trying to figure out how to make them. You need to use parchment paper to put the caulk on so that it won’t stick. I tried wax paper, clear wrap and butcher paper…these didn’t work. The stencils stuck to the paper.
The caulk I used was frosted when wet but went to clear when dried. It took a good day or two before they dried. After they dried, I removed them from the parchment paper and trimmed any stray caulk with scissors.
A word of warning…they can stick together especially before you start using them. They were less sticky after they had been used a couple times. Next time I might coat them in something powdery so they don’t stick together.
I really like the organic look they produce. I used these to make art journal pages.
It was easy to do! One of a kind stencils!
